General Jerome B. Robertson Camp 992

Who We Are

The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) is a genealogical-historical organization dedicated to preserving the history and honoring the memory of our Confederate ancestors. The SCV is the direct heir of the United Confederate Veterans and the oldest hereditary organization for male descendants of Confederate soldiers. Organized at Richmond, Virginia, in 1896, the SCV continues to serve as a historical, patriotic and non-political organization dedicated to ensuring that a true history of the 1861-65 period is preserved.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans is not affiliated with any other organization, with the exception of The Military Order of the Stars and Bars, an organization for the male descendants of the Confederate officer corps and civil government officials.

Our Key Beliefs

We believe in God, home, family, heritage, duty, liberty, freedom, self-determination, self-government, patriotism, truth and self-defense.

 That the Confederacy was founded upon these same things.

 That most Southerners today still admire and seek these things today.

That education and training can achieve these things.

How You Can Help

Become a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) to help preserve a true history of the War of Northern Aggression and to help preserve your Southern heritage.  Invite your friends...and get involved!

If you have a wife, daughter or girl friend, encourage them to become a member of the Order of Confederate Rose (OCR), our support affiliate. See and contact Betty Nelson for information about membership in Robertson's Roses, the Brenham chapter of the OCR.

How do I join the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV)?

Membership in the SCV is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces.  Membership can be obtained through either lineal or collateral family ties.  Kinship to a veteran must be documented genealogically (see links below if you need help).  The minimum age for full membership is 12, but there is no minimum age for Cadet membership.  An SCV membership application can be downloaded at

Annual dues amount to $55 (National - $30; Texas Division - $15; and, camp - $10).  Please note that new members are excused from paying camp dues their first year of membership, but they are required to pay National an additional $5 for processing their membership application; thus, the total amount due from a new member the first full year is $50.
